About Outer Banks Festival of Model Aviation
Local residents of all ages are invited to try flying a model radio control aircraft and to learn about our model aviation community at our field, accessible through the Outer Banks Gun Club in Manns Harbor beginning at 10AM.
We will have qualified flight instructors to assist those wishing to try their hand at flying a radio control airplane at no cost. Each person that tries flying will be provided with a raffle ticket for a drawing that will be held at the conclusion of the event.The grand prize winner will receive a ready-to-fly airplane along with club and AMA membership. The two runners-up will receive a ready-to-fly airplane and AMA membership paid by the club provided they show the desire to continue in the hobby by applying for club membership. The combined value of all three prizes is $1,194!
A second raffle for two electric powered planes and one-year paid AMA membership will also be held. Tickets for this second raffle will be available for sale at $10 each, or three tickets for $20. The combined value of these two prizes is $678!
Admission for this event is only one non-perishable food item per attendee that will be donated to the Beach Food Pantry, and includes a lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, soft-drinks, and bottled water.
